Instructions

  1. Prepare the Basil Syrup: Combine honey (or simple syrup) in a small saucepan with ½ cup water. Heat gently until the mixture dissolves completely, then remove from heat. Add the basil leaves, cover, and let it steep for 15 minutes. Strain the syrup and allow it to cool.
  2. Mix the Base: Combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice and the cooled basil syrup in a large pitcher. Stir well to blend the flavors evenly.
  3. Add Sparkle: Just before serving, pour the chilled sparkling water into the lemon-basil mixture. Stir gently to retain the fizz.
