Ingredients
Graham Cracker Crust for Banana Split Dessert
- 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Creamy Filling for Banana Split Dessert
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 8 ounces whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
Toppings for Banana Split Dessert
- 2–3 medium bananas, sliced
- 1 (20-ounce) can of crushed pineapple, drained
- 1 pound fresh strawberries, sliced
- Maraschino cherries, for garnish
- Chocolate syrup, for drizzling
- ½ cup Chopped pecans, for garnish
Instructions
- Make the Crust: First, combine the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter in a medium bowl. Then, mix well until the crumbs are evenly moistened. Subsequently, press the mixture into the bottom of a 9×13-inch dish.
- Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue to beat until fully incorporated. Finally, gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until combined.
- Assemble the Dessert: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the graham cracker crust. Next, arrange the sliced bananas over the cream cheese layer. Then, spread the drained crushed pineapple over the bananas. After that, layer the sliced strawberries over the pineapple.
- Add Toppings and Chill: Garnish with maraschino cherries and chopped pecans. Finally, drizzle with chocolate syrup. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
For best results, use full-fat cream cheese and whipped topping. However, you can substitute with lower-fat versions if desired, but the texture may be slightly different. Additionally, if you’re making this dessert ahead of time, wait to add the bananas until just before serving to prevent them from browning. Furthermore, feel free to customize the toppings to your liking. Consider adding other fruits, nuts, or even a sprinkle of sprinkles!
